SSG Landers defeated the Doosan Bears in a thrilling come-from-behind victory thanks to Ha Jae-hoon’s inside-the-park (ground) tying home run in the eighth inning and Jeon Eui-san’s game-winning home run in the bottom of the inning.
SSG won 7-5 against visiting Doosan in the Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Baseball League 2023 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Saturday.
Doosan, which had won four straight games, saw its momentum halted after dropping a close game.
After working out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first inning, SSG took the lead in the top of the second.
With the bases loaded, Cho Hyung-woo hit an infield grounder that brought home Park Sung-seong from third base.
In the top of the third inning, leadoff hitter Choi Ji-hoon tripled to right-center and Park Sung-sung doubled down the left-field line, scoring two more runs to make it 2-0.
After giving up a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, SSG was able to capitalize on a big scoring opportunity in the top of the fifth.
With Doosan’s reliever Lee Byung-heon struggling with his pitches, SSG drew walks from Choi Ji-hoon, Choi Jeong, and Park Sung-han to load the bases.
Lee then threw the ball to the shoulder of the next batter, Han Yoo-seom, for a force out.
SSG was unable to capitalize on the ensuing one-out opportunity. Kang Jin-sung and Jeon Eui-san were retired by Doosan’s third pitcher, Lee Young-ha.
The momentum shifted to Doosan. SSG gave up a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, the defense caught Dulmi. The second pitcher, Noh Kyung-eun, struggled with the pitch and left the bases loaded.
Noh struck out Yang Ji, but pinch runner Jung Soo-bin came home to tie the game at 3-3.
Noh gave up a double down the left field line to Yang Seok-hwan, and the new pitcher, Choi Min-joon, gave up a single to left to Kang Seung-ho to make it 3-5.
With the deficit deep, SSG made a dramatic comeback in the top of the eighth inning.
With the bases loaded and Kim Kang-min singled up the middle, Ha Jae-hoon hit a big shot to left-center field, and the ball hit the fence.
Doosan center fielder Jeong Soo-bin fell while trying to catch the ball, and the ball went sideways.
In the meantime, Kim Kang-min, the first baseman, and Ha Jae-hoon, the pinch runner, came home.
After tying the game at 5-5 with an inside-the-park home run, SSG took a 6-5 lead with a solo home run to right field by Jeon Eui-san in the next at-bat.
SSG added a run in the top of the ninth inning in its final at-bat, taking advantage of a bad pitch from pitcher Chung Chul-won.
Ha Jae-hoon, who pinch-hit in the seventh inning, went 1-for-1 with one RBI and one walk, including his first career grounder.
In the bottom of the ninth, SSG closer Seo Jin-yong pitched one scoreless inning to earn his 34th save of the season and remain atop the league standings.
He also became the 19th player in KBO history to appear in 50 games in five consecutive seasons. 안전카지노사이트
