“Extra time is too long!”
FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez (43) expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating in the opening match of La Liga.
Hernández’s Barcelona drew 0-0 with Getafe in the first round of the 2023-2024 Primera Liga on Thursday (ET).
The game was played in a chaotic and ugly atmosphere with three red cards, and it was a shocking draw for Barcelona.
Both Barcelona and Getafe were down to 10 men as they each picked up a red card during the match. Hernandez was even sent off in the 25th minute for protesting too much about the opposition’s rough play.
“We started the season with a draw, but we don’t know the end result yet,” Hernandez told the club’s official website, “My sending off doesn’t matter. We’ve been working hard and we needed to win. One point was not enough for us, but we finished the game well.”
He then went on to complain about the extra time. The game was a chaotic affair with a number of ejections, resulting in 10 minutes of extra time in the first half and 11 minutes in the second.
“It’s the referee’s call, but I think they’re allowing too much time,” Hernandez said. “It’s a pity that the extra time was more than 20 minutes,” he said, adding, “It doesn’t help us sell the product that is La Liga. 파워볼사이트
