Saturday’s reopening trial of some non-game facilities in Incheon’s resort Paradise City (pictured), which has a foreign-only casino, was canceled after a four-tier social distancing rule was introduced in Incheon and the neighboring national capital, Seoul, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
This is the result of GGRAsia calling Paradise City on Friday.
Regarding Paradise City’s general reopening plan for non-gaming facilities, how it will proceed will be decided next week, according to officials at the venue.
The government introduced Level 4 due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Incheon and Seoul. The alert means casinos must close at 10 p.m.
A representative of Paradise Inc., which operates the Paradise Walkerhill Casino Hotel in Seoul, said they will discuss over the weekend how level 4 measures will affect casino operations.
Paradise City, near Incheon International Airport, said on its website on Tuesday that South Korean quarantine authorities said one of Paradise City’s latest hotel guests, a four-day resident, had since tested positive for COVID-19.
The website post said authorities were “no problem” in terms of hotel accommodation and continued use of the resort, as Paradise City followed the necessary protocols for COVID-19 response measures.
On Thursday, a Paradise City representative clarified after a phone inquiry from GGRAsia that COVID-19 cases at the on-site hotel did not affect casino operations as the patient was a local, and therefore would not be allowed into Paradise City’s gaming facilities.
As of 12 a.m. on Friday, South Korea recorded 1,316 new COVID-19 cases, a new daily record, in the 24 hours since the first case was reported in the country on Jan. 20, 2020. Friday’s data recorded 165,344 confirmed cases, including 2,036 deaths, according to the ministry.
