Casino sales at the Jeju Dream Tower Casino Resort (pictured) in Korea’s vacation resort of Jeju Island rose 95.3 percent on-month to nearly 20.12 billion won (US$15.5 million) in July, according to data submitted to the Korea Exchange on Wednesday. Hotel sales reached nearly 9.68 billion won in July, up 9.6% from the previous month, but down 13.9% from a year ago.
The company did not comment on the reason for the change.
Casino sales totaled 68.15 billion won in the first seven months of this year, up 145.3% year-over-year.
Table game sales rose 142.4% year-on-year to 61.19 billion won in the year to July 31, while machine game sales rose 173.4%, to nearly 6.96 billion won.
Accumulated casino table drops to about 651.66 billion won in the first seven months of this year, up 206.6% year-on-year.
Hotel sales from January to July were 50.8 billion won, down 27.2% from the same period last year.
