Outside hitter Hwang Min-kyung of the IBK Women’s Professional Volleyball Team (WPVT) killed two birds with one stone. IBK played a home match against Pepper Savings Bank of the Dodram V League in the 2023-24 season at Hwaseong Gymnasium on Jan. 1.
Hwang Min-kyung reached the 3,000 attack points milestone, a record set by the Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO). She became the 14th Korean player to reach the milestone. IBK dropped the first set to Pepper Savings Bank, but came back to win the second and fourth sets to win the match 3-1.
The win was the first at home since the start of the season. Hwang Min-kyung had a 23.6 percent attack percentage but still did her job in terms of points, scoring 10.
In a matchup of firepower, KEB was led by “Cannon” Abe Crombie (USA/Puerto Rico) with 31 points and Hwang Min-kyung and Pyo Seung-ju with 10 points each.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect to reach that milestone in this match,” Hwang laughed when speaking to the media after the match about reaching 3,000 points, “I didn’t expect to score double-digit points because I was focused on helping my team on defense and serve.”
“In fact, in my professional debut, I never thought I would score 3,000 points. To be honest, I didn’t think I would still be on the court in the 2023-24 season, but it’s a reality.” Hwang made his V-League debut after being selected by Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) with the second pick of the first round in the 2008-09 rookie draft out of Sewha Girls’ High School, and went on to play for KEC, GS Caltex, and Hyundai E&C before moving to KEB Hana Bank as a free agent after the end of last season.
Hwang Min-kyung burst into tears on the court after the team’s 3-2 victory over roadworks at Gimcheon Gymnasium on October 28, the day the team won its first game since the start of the season. “I felt so sorry for my teammates,” he said, “I thought I wasn’t helping them at all, and that’s why the tears came,” he said. “Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but I can’t control my tears as well as I used to,” he laughed again.
Hwang Min-kyung is back on the court, but she’s not 100 percent. She has just recovered from an injury. “There’s very little pain. I don’t feel it anymore. However, I think it’s because it’s been a while since I’ve been practicing with the team after my individual workout, so I’m not quite up to speed yet in terms of match sensation.”
“It’s still early in the season and it’s just the beginning, so I’ll do my best to improve my body and help the team win more games in the future,” he said 카지노사이트 encouragingly. Meanwhile, Hwang Min-kyung also commented on how he feels about the team after joining the organization. “The players are more cheerful when I come to the team than when I see them outside,” he said, adding, “We get along better with each other than I expected.”
