‘Glory to Hong Kong’, the iconic song of Hong Kong’s anti-government protests…
Created at the height of the August 2019 protests, this song expresses the will of Hong Kong’s independence.
It became so popular during the anti-government protests that it was even played as Hong Kong’s national anthem at international sporting events.
As a result, Hong Kong’s Justice Department applied to the courts earlier this month for an injunction to prevent pro-independence activists from playing “Glory to Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong High Court rejected the DOJ’s application, saying it would undermine and chill freedom of expression.
The court also questioned the effectiveness of the law, saying that the current provisions of the law are sufficient to punish the spreading of Glory to Hong Kong.
