‘Man Utd troublemaker’ close to settlement, confirms ‘HERE WE GO’

Olympique Marseille have apparently set their sights on Mason Greenwood instead of Hwang Hee-chan.
Marseille have made a formal offer to Manchester United for Greenwood, who has been labeled a problem child at the club, and are reportedly close to reaching a personal agreement.
Fabrizio Romano, a European soccer transfer market expert who has worked for the UK’s The Guardian and other publications, broke the news on his social media accounts on Monday (Aug. 8).
Romano added: “It is understood that Marseille have made a formal offer to United for Greenwood. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing and Greenwood remains Marseille’s main target as they are close to reaching an agreement. United are open to sending Greenwood on loan with an option to buy and a sell-on clause.”
Greenwood is a sore thumb for United. Once regarded as the best talent in United’s youth system after Marcus Rashford, Greenwood made his professional debut for the Premier League (PL) giants as a teenager, but he was banned from the club’s first-team roster for nearly a year after being accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend in 2022, preventing him from gaining experience at a time when he should have been developing.
Even after the case was dismissed, the club didn’t reinstate Greenwood for fear of tarnishing the club’s image with his socially controversial behavior. Luckily for United, there was a team that wanted Greenwood, and he left on loan to Spanish La Liga side Getafe ahead of last season.
At the time, United wanted to get rid of Greenwood quickly enough to cover most of his weekly wages. Greenwood was one of United’s top talents, having made his professional debut for the club as a high schooler and risen to the semi-professional ranks, but after the sexual assault allegations, he became an ugly duckling and left the club on loan.
After not playing for a year, let alone 카지노사이트 추천 training, the general consensus was that Greenwood’s resurgence was unlikely, but he proved the doubters wrong and bounced back within a season.
Despite being on loan, Greenwood was one of Getafe’s best performers last season and was named the club’s Player of the Year at the end of the season. In 2023-24, Greenwood finished the season with eight goals and six assists in 33 league games and 10 goals and six assists in cup competitions.
Marseille approached Greenwood after seeing his resurgence. Initially, Marseille included Hwang, who emerged as Wolverhampton’s new ace with 12 goals and three assists in the PL last season, in their list of targets, but after weighing up the options, they opted for Greenwood.
Earlier, French media outlet L’Equipe reported that Hwang Hee-chan’s transfer to Marseille was favored by Marseille’s new head coach Roberto De Jervi, who is considered the next great coach of the game, but it seems that Greenwood, not Hwang Hee-chan, is more likely to be coached by De Jervi at Marseille.
This is also good news for Greenwood, who returned to United after a loan spell at Getafe, but it was far from certain that the club would give him a chance next season, having been reluctant to bring him back last season. Instead, the door was opened for Greenwood to make a fresh start in France.
