BCLC Expands Retail Sports Betting Through Intralot Deal

In a press release on Thursday, April 6, 2023, Intralot reported that a three-year contract has been signed, with options for a three-year extension. As part of the partnership, the gaming company will provide Crown with innovative technology to power BCLC’s retail sportsbooks, which will be rolled out through terminals across provincial gaming properties.

The supplier also announced that the integration would make the retail sports betting platform available at more than 700 self-service kiosks in BC and terminals operated by 3,400 clerks.

Nikos Nikolakopoulos, chairman of the provider’s board, said the company was pleased to build on its relationship with the BC Lottery in its sports betting division. He noted that the company expects to produce an improved retail player experience and to drive product growth responsibly for the benefit of British Columbia residents.

The Crown Corporation did not provide comment on the settlement, but said it would consider sportsbooks licensed at land casinos and community game centers in February 2021. It also said it would consider adding sports betting offers at hospitality venues across the province that sell lottery products, such as bars and pubs.
