Five years after the official grand opening to the New York state gambling industry, Rivers Casino & Resort Shenectady is celebrating five years of premium operations. The game facility first opened on February 8, 2017, and is currently celebrating its fifth anniversary with a US$5 food and beverage special and a card gift.
Rush Street Interactive operates a casino hotspot and has invested $330 million to date, more than $220 million, including a total of $550 million in housing in Mohawk Harbor, the largest coastal development in the Upstate area of New York.
Rivers Casino & Resort general manager Rick Richards said the property is excited to celebrate the milestone of its fifth anniversary with teams, guests, and supporters. Mr Richards also said he was very proud of the property’s performance in the last five years without challenges, but insists the property is more committed to the area than ever.
To celebrate the special day, the casino is offering customers US$5 food and drink. This includes domestic draft beer from Van Slick, Flipt and Johnny To Go, and Teato and Jack Daniels cocktails from Van Slick and landing bars. Two slices of cheese pizza are included in Johnny To Go, and crispy Buffalo Fried Chicken Sandwich is included in Flip. All are available during casino regular working hours.
In addition, every Thursday between noon and 8 p.m. during the month of February, the casino will offer US$25 reverse gift cards to 20 random guests. In addition, during the US$20,000 Birthday Bucks giveaway every Friday between 8 and 9 p.m., customers who participate with a Rush Rewards card will get a chance to win US$1,000 in slot play.
The casino near the port of Mohawk promised 1,000 jobs not long ago, and delivered the promise. Currently, the building employs 853 union members and provides good money and benefits to its employees. This includes healthcare and 401k, career pathways in the gaming and hospitality industries, and provides over US$43 million in wages to the region.
Schenectady’s gaming property is also socially responsible to the community. Last December, the casino announced that it had earned more than US$17,100 from its PINKTober Stay, Eat and Drink Pink breast cancer awareness campaign. The money was donated to the American Cancer Society to support initiatives to combat breast cancer.
Earlier this year, Rush Street Interactive achieved another significant milestone in the Empire State.
