Malaysia-based casino electronic gaming and services supplier RGB International Bhd has denied its subsidiary’s involvement in funding Malaysian political leaders. The clarification was part of a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday.
It follows reports from Malaysian media outlets claiming some political leaders are under investigation by Malaysian corruption watchdogs for allegedly receiving state campaign funds ranging from $6 million (about $1.29 million) to $7 million from gambling companies.
In a filing on Monday, RGB said it had “not and will not tolerate any form of ‘political funding’
The board added: “We want to clarify that RGB SDn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, only fully sells game consoles and accessories and does not engage in or own any Malaysian slot clubs.”
The gaming equipment supplier also said its directors were “providing full cooperation” in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigation into the game company’s political funding.
“The directors of this company are not connected to any politician in this country,” RBG added.
RGB also said it was “very regulated” in the jurisdictions where the group operates. “The group adopts a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption and maintains the highest standards of compliance,” it said, adding that it had established an “anti-bribery and corruption policy” in 2015.
Shares of RGB were down nearly 14% at MYR0.31 at the close of trading on Monday.
