Macau’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell 4.9% month-on-month to $15.85 billion ($2.3 billion) in April, according to data released on Wednesday by Macau’s Bureau of Game Inspection and Coordination. Results are up 26.0% compared to April 2023.
The daily GGR utilization rate for April was “in line with historic seasonality,” according to investment analysts.
Citigroup said in its April issue of its monthly spot check survey of Macau’s premium mass game tables that player quality appears to be “resilient.” However, the agency said in April that Macau’s GGR was likely to be created by a smaller number of “premium mass players,” given “the timing of this year’s Labor Day holiday.”
The next major holiday in mainland China, Macau’s main tourism supply market, is the Labor Day holiday, which runs from today (May 1) to Sunday (May 5).
The latest data throughout April showed Macau’s GGR for the first four months of 2024 was tallied at MOP758.7 billion, up 53.7% from the previous year
